GET EXTRA EDGE THROUGH KNOWLEDGE

KNOWLEDGE: A STEP TOWARDS EXCELLENCE

We can definitely call Microsoft Office as a factory of imagination. Their operation in any department is admirable. Google, Bosch, Siemens, ABB, Titan are the few organizations anyone will admire for the way its system works within. Of course, all of them are not having identical competencies and products. Each one of them is unique in their own way. But few aspects are common for all of them, which can be learned and adopted in any organizations.

Thirst for Innovation is one of the first beliefs that they have in their DNA. They keep exploring for new ideas, design and product seamlessly without giving up. Second most important aspect is the way they manage valuable information. Knowledge Management is all about how organization collect, organize and apply information in an efficient way.

'Knowledge' is not static it is dynamic and It keeps growing. There is an unending research happening in grown up organizations. The outcome of the research and explorations are new ideas, innovative products or effective process, new designs, etc. Each effort leads people to discover something new. People have wealth of information which can be a greatly useful to all the employees in the organization.

Successful organizations are effective in making right information available for right references within the Organization. It saves time and money and also avoids duplication of efforts within the organization. Nokia software engineer who works for a language translation project in Chennai receive codes that are already available from Denmark. Many times organization search for information and knowledge which are very much available in the organization.

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT: DAY TO DAY

Knowledge management needs to be a day to day happening. If this is reminded to team members only during crisis time, then it does not impact any results to the organization. It can become a culture and habit within organization. Threat to the knowledge sharing can be removed and transparent culture can enable the people to come forward to share what they know freely. Better system to recognize and appreciate knowledge can motivate people to participate.

There are lot of advantages grown up organizations are using to enrich their knowledge management. One, Measuring the Knowledge Contribution of the People for their performance review based on their levels. Employees are informed that when you share your knowledge you become a contributor / productive member to the team and to the organization. Great Ideas contributed also can earn promotion for some one. So people are keen about constantly exploring new ideas and suggestion

A better system in organization can only build bank for Knowledge. Systemic approach can gather valid information and happenings, Organize and filter the apt information and align, third make it ready for access to the right people so that they can use it whenever they need. Integrating the Information within the organization is a simple task if you properly utilize the technology for tapping

MULTIPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE & SUCCESS

Organizations can become lively and enthusiastic due to constant ideas flow. People enjoy in sharing their knowledge because they are recognized. It takes the organization to operate to its fullest potentials. Sharing the knowledge also leads further to the point where the 'synergy' begins to unfold its great wonders.
The multiplication of knowledge occurs and gives you an access to the large pool of untapped resources that preexists. It also lays down the road map for further research and development, resulting in greater innovation of new product or service.

Building Brand through Principles

Good Leaders in the world do not require P R Agents and agencies to advertise them. Their principles and action speaks for themselves. Their personalities carry them to all over the world either by word of mouth or virtue of nature. Nallakannu is one such popular leader brand of Communist Party in India.

This Eighty Years Young Leader is much faster than many young comrades. Khadi dhoti, white shirt, well combed hair and a white smile present on the face and heart is Nallakannu. Nallakannu appears always calm and composed. He refers in plural to even those younger than him. He starts his day with fermented rice and onions. He is passionate in serving society.

Imagine, a political leader said "no" to Rajya Sabha seat stating that "I am too old for the position, so give the opportunity for the youngsters". He was always hungry for service not for the power. May be that's why awards and recognitions wait for him at his door step. He was the recipient of Tamilnadu State Ambedkar Award 2007 for his outstanding contribution to public life, especially to the poor and the downtrodden. It was presented on January 16, 2008. In fact, he did not receive the national level recognition, because he was not much after for the recognition.

He is not educated from great Universities, but his principles and ideology are referral point. His speeches are thought provoking due to his social concerns. "Even today our village people need to travel average of 5 kilometers distance to reach hospital for general ailments, how can we call ourselves that we are self contended..." said by Nallakannu. However, he has a great hope and positive sight towards future. He never becomes negative or gives up fighting.

Nallakkannu was in news recently. He had re-directed a car and a sum of one crore rupees that was gifted to him on the occasion of his 80th birthday for the welfare of his party. That recalls memories of Kamaraj who cancelled exclusive water connection for his mother at his home town. This is what Cardinal quality means. That summarizes and personifies selflessness. What we people at corporate need to learn and follow is to work with passion and make ourselves valuable. We always needed to be calm and composed. Nallakkannu treats people in political as well personal life with great respect and dignity. He does not carry the 'halo effect' on him which makes him accessible to every person.

Nallakannu proves that well know leaders are made of Clear Value System and Principles. Selfless Service, Passionate towards the goal, Being with people are his core strengths. People like Nallakannu produces more leaders for future in Society.

Enjoy the Summer - No other Go!!!

  • Unusually the summer this time wasn't that hot as it usually used to be. May be the Elections and the IPL entertained the people and kept them so cool that they didn't realise the heat of the summer.
  • Summer is an excellent Season for the Natural Life. It sterilizes the entire system and keeps the planet and people fit for the rest of the seasons. Summer is bright and also offers lot of things for our lifestyle. The high temperature during summer or "Kathiri" as it is called in Tamil, starts on May 4th 2009 and will stay for 25 days.
  • The uninvited heat invites small pox, prickly heat, boils and related illness. So what do medicos prescribe? 3 liters water per day, water melons, cucumbers, fruits and vegetables.
  • What do we avoid? Non-vegetarian food like chicken is not advisable. Let the food cool before consuming and make a point to reduce the spice. Else it would damage the stoma

Being open to learning

Open the mind doors for Mr Knowledge. The thought "I Know", closes the doors of the mind refusing others in. It is a sarcastic way of saying "I don't need". But the state "I don't know" is an unlocked door. Every thought is welcomed with warmth. A rich man went to a zen master claiming zero results from his previous mentors. The rich man further added that he chose to seek the zen master as his tutor. The Zen master realized his arrogance in the way he admonished his previous tutors. The master poured tea into the man's cup. And he did not stop. Boiling tea over flowed into the young man's clothes. To this, the young angrily jumped up and shouted, "You stupid man, can't you see what you are doing? You are spilling hot tea over me?" The master stopped pouring and said "Young man, until your cup is empty, you are incapable of receiving anything from me. Go and return when you have room to receive from another". When you make your mind free, you become capable of learning more.

Six Ways to Grow the Action Habit

Excellence is born out of sustained efforts in life. Successful People get things done. This ability supercedes intelligence, talent, and connections in determining the size of your salary and the speed of your advancement. Despite the simplicity of this concept there is a perpetual shortage of people who excel at getting results. The action habit - the habit of putting ideas into action now - is essential to getting things done. Here are 7 ways you can grow the action habit:

  1. Don't wait until conditions are perfect - If you're waiting to start until conditions are perfect, you probably never will. There will always be something that isn't quite right. Either the timing is off, the market is down, or there's too much competition. In the real world there is no perfect time to start. You have to take action and deal with problems as they arise. The best time to start was last year. The second best time is right now.
  2. Be a doer - Practice doing things rather than thinking about them. Do you want to start exercising? Do you have a great idea to pitch your boss? Do it today. The longer an idea sits in your head without being acted on, the weaker it becomes. After a few days the details gets hazy. After a week it's forgotten completely. By becoming a doer you'll get more done and stimulate new ideas in the process.
  3. Remember that ideas alone don't bring success - Ideas are important, but they're only valuable after they've been implemented. One average idea that's been put into action is more valuable than a dozen brilliant ideas that you're saving for "some other day" or the "right opportunity". If you have an idea the you really believe in, do something about it. Unless you take action it will never go anywhere.
  4. Use action to cure fear - Have you ever noticed that the most difficult part of public speaking is waiting for your turn to speak? Even professional speakers and actors experience pre-performance anxiety. Once they get started the fear disappears. Action is the best cure for fear. The most difficult time to take action is the very first time. After the ball is rolling, you'll build confidence and things will keep getting easier. Kill fear by taking action and build on that confidence.
  5. Live in the present - Focus on what you can do in the present moment. Don't worry about what you should have done last week or what you might be able to do tomorrow. The only time you can affect is the present. If you speculate too much about the past or the future you won't get anything done. Tomorrow or next week frequently turns into never.
  6. Get down to business immediately - It's common practice for people to socialize and make small talk at the beginning of meetings. The same is true for individual workers. How often do you check email or RSS feeds before doing any real work? These distractions will cost you serious time if you don't bypass them and get down to business immediately. By becoming someone who gets to the point you'll be more productive and people will look to you as a leader.

It takes courage to take action without instructions from the person in charge. Perhaps that's why initiative is a rare quality that's in demand by managers and executives everywhere. Once people see you are getting things done, they'll want to join in. The people at the top don't have anyone telling them what to do. If you want to join them, you should get used to acting independently. Grow rich habits regularly without break.

Beach in Delhi

If someone sees a beach in New Delhi, please don't run to the Atlas. On the eve of Common Wealth games, Delhi tourism and South African Hotelier Jo Majola would realize this. The latter had already built one at Johannesburg, South Africa. 100 meters long and 50 meter deep, the beach with sand imported from Jaisalmer would be set opposite the Akshardam Premises. With the Area Temperature and water temperature engineered to 23 degrees and 20 degrees respectively, the Wave generating machine would produce a 1 and ½ meter high wave for every 90 seconds. But then, hold your breath, Adult entry fee would be RS 2000 and Child entry fee RS 750. After the Commonwealth games, the place would be leased out to the private.

U2 TIPS

Save Trees By Using Less Paper

If you have unwanted A4 paper that’s only been printed on 1 side, then tear it or cut it up into halves or quarters. You then end up with A5 or A6 sized notepaper and they’re clipped together using bulldog clips or staples. Think about buying paper made from hemp, bamboo or organic cotton?
