LOL (LAUGH OUT LOUD)

Have you ever been guilty of looking at others your own age and thinking, 'Surely I can't look that old? Well then, You might enjoy this.... My name is Tracy and I was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new Dentist. I noticed his BDS Certificates which bore his full name. Suddenly, I remembered a tall, handsome, dark-haired boy with the same name who had been in my high school class some 40 Odd years ago.Could he be the same guy that I had a secret crush on, way back then?

Upon seeing him, however, I quickly discarded any such thought. This balding, gray-haired man with the deeply lined face was way too old to have been my classmate. But after he examined my teeth, I asked him if he had attended Stainman High School." Yes! Yes! I did. I'm Treeman; He gleamed with Pride".

"When did you graduate?", I asked. He answered, "In 1955. Why do you ask?"

"You were in my class", I exclaimed. He looked at me closely. Then, that Ugly, Old, Bald, Wrinkled, Fat, Gray Haired , Plumpy fellow asked me...

"WHAT DID YOU TEACH?"

AIR TRAVEL WAR

Union Minister for Civil Aviation has announced his commitment to make a success of Air India. Fortunately, he has not limited his options of achieving this success within the framework of public sector ownership and management.

Both options, of privatising Air India or handing over the management to a private sector strategic partner, would now be on his table. Should Air India be kept afloat simply because it is the so-called national carrier? A sick national carrier does not bring any glory to the country. Other domestic carriers which are now well known globally do the country equally proud.

At present, Rs 800 crore has been held back for payment of VVIP duties and Rs. 200 crore is owed by the defence department.

COOPERATIVE OPTION

No short-term or patchwork measures will now suffice. All these have been tried earlier and without success. The airline has to be run as a modern corporation, freed from the burdens imposed by its 14 trade unions, the false assurance of unlimited support from the Exchequer and a management that has virtually zero accountability for its performance.

Outright privatisation is perhaps impractical in the given political conditions. A way forward could be to make the airlines a cooperative venture of all its employees with the government giving it the initial thrust by restructuring its debt. The employees' cooperative could join hands with a strategic management partner and link its own remuneration from the company to its actual performance. There seems to be no other way forward. It is incurring a loss of Rs 57 crore each day.

In the globalised era the competition in the air has become tuff, facilities and attractive packages for the customers have increased a lot, to withstand in this industry needs lot of creative ideas.

POST VOCATION PREPARATION

This is always a tough thing for kids to do after a nice long summer break. But as parents, it is important for us to prepare our children to go back to school after summer break in the right mindset. Few tips you can use to prepare your kids to go back to school after summer break.

The first step in preparing for school after summer break is, change the daily sleep patterns of your children. The days of sleeping in late or staying up late are over. Begin waking up the children early each day until you reach the 'school wake-up time'. Have the child(ren) go to bed early each night until they are on the schedule you use for the school season.

The second step in preparing for school after summer break is, begin the transition to eating regular healthy meals. Children enjoy the summer months because they are filled with snack stands at the local ball field. Begin the transition by slowing having your child(ren) reduce their consumption of the non-healthy food. Start having your children sits down for a healthy breakfast, a lunch and enjoying a healthy dinner.

The third step in preparing for school after summer break, begin the transition to doing homework. Each child should be reading books over the summer. For some children, reading all summer is no problem. For other children, it is not so easy. Have the child(ren) read a book. This will prepare them for when they are in school and homework is required.

The last step in preparing for school after summer break is to work on the transition to the extracurricular activities your child(ren) may get involved with in school. Whether it is sports, the arts, music, begin transitioning your child(ren) from summer break to a regular schedule.

Even though the summer break is extended, the preparation towards our kid's education matters a lot. We have to be prepared enough to make our kids to learn effectively.

STRESS MANAGEMENT

Recent studies suggest that increased levels of stress are becoming considered commonplace amongst working adults. During these tough economic times, whether you run your own business or help to manage or direct a global brand it is very likely that even if you do not recognise the symptoms you too may be suffering from this silent killer. It has never been so important to learn the art of stress management.

Too Much Stress and its Impacts

Without proper stress management, your health and business could significantly suffer. For example, when you are stressed, your sleep patterns are usually affected. Any lack of sleep you may suffer, may potentially have a detrimental effect on the quality of your work and decision making. Therefore when it comes to making important decisions, it is possible to misjudge a situation and potentially make the wrong decision.

Not only will your work life suffer, but your personal life will also be affected by too much stress. Lashing out at the people closest to us is a common and only to worrying release of stress and too much pressure. You feel like you are being pulled in all directions as your family rely on you, your staff also need you and the business could suffer if you make the wrong choices.

On your return home after a long and hectic day in the office, you may be confronted with situations that you need the least after such a day, loud or badly behaving children, a partner cursing you for missing your dinner or not being home on time. You can't let your stress show at work so typically you will take it out on your family. Many relationships have ended because of too much stress.

As you can see, stress affects every part of your life. If you are suffering from extreme stress then it is vital that you learn about stress management.

If we take enough stress management tips, you can beat stress and gain control of your business and your life once again. It is impossible to eliminate stress altogether, but the trick is to learn how to control your reactions to stress and prepare yourself for any future encounters.

Stress is normal to any human being. We cannot eliminate stress, but can manage it through simple practical techniques. At FYMC we teach simple and effective stress management techniques. We also combine effective meditation and yoga for stress free living. Experience the difference in you through this program. For more details reach trg@fymc.co.in.

E WASTE - A MOUNTING CHALLENGE

"E-waste" refers to any unwanted electronic device or Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) and is classified as universal waste. E-waste frequently contains hazardous materials, predominantly lead and mercury, and is produced by households, businesses, governments, and industries.

According to the report, not only will India see a 500% increase in e-waste, but China and South Africa will see a 400% increase from 2007 levels over the next ten years, with mobile phones being a significant component, rising seven times higher in China and 18 times higher in India. E-Waste from televisions will be 1.5 to 2 times higher in China and India, and e-waste from discarded refrigerators will double or triple in India.

Logical Solutions to Illogical Problems

The logical solution is to use what devices we have a lot longer, and to find value in reusing the materials from old electronics. For example, simple solutions to the problem of mobile phones: First, people in developed nations need to keep a hold of their cell phones an appropriate amount of time - much longer than the incredibly brief 18 months we currently have them before upgrading.

And second, when we do trade them in, if they're in working condition, they need to go straight to the millions of people who are in need of it. If they're not in working condition, they get safely taken apart and the materials reused. As the report states, "Manufacturing mobile phones and personal computers consumes 3 per cent of the gold and silver mined worldwide each year; 13 per cent of the palladium and 15 per cent of cobalt."

Imagine the lower carbon footprint (carbon dioxide emissions from mining and production of precious metals for electronics is estimated to be about 0.1% of the global emissions), and lower environmental and human impact of just reusing many of those materials, rather than mining them. But of course the obvious solution is not always the easiest.

HOW TO TRACK MOBILE PHONES

Mobile phone tracking tracks the current position of a mobile phone, even when it is moving. To locate the phone, it must emit at least the roaming signal to contact the next nearby antenna tower, but the process does not require an active call. GSM localisation is then done by multilateration based on the signal strength to nearby antenna masts.

The technology of locating is based on measuring power levels and antenna patterns and uses the concept that a mobile phone always communicates wirelessly with one of the closest base stations, so if you know which base station the phone communicates with, you know that the phone is close to the respective base station.

Advanced systems determine the sector in which the mobile phone resides and roughly estimate also the distance to the base station. Further approximation can be done by interpolating signals between adjacent antenna towers. Qualified services may achieve a precision of down to 50 meters in urban areas where mobile traffic and density of antenna towers (base stations) is sufficiently high. Rural and desolate areas may see miles between base stations and therefore determine locations less precisely.

GSM localization is the use of multilateration to determine the location of GSM mobile phones, usually with the intent to locate the user. Localization-Based Systems can be broadly divided into:

* Network-based    * Handset-based
* SIM-based           * Hybrid

Network-based: Network-based techniques utilize the service provider's network infrastructure to identify the location of the handset.

Handset-based: Handset-based technology requires the installation of client software on the handset to determine its location. This technique determines the location of the handset by computing its location by cell identification, signal strengths of the home and neighbouring cells, which is continuously sent to the carrier.

SIM-based: Using the SIM in GSM and UMTS handsets, it is possible to obtain raw radio measurements from the handset.

Hybrid: Hybrid positioning systems use a combination of network-based and handset-based technologies for location determination. One example would be some modes of Assisted GPS, which can both use GPS and network information to compute the location.

Mobile tracking is another technology that can be used to track the phones for different reasons, tracking the lost phone, tracking the phone and the person who is holding the phone are some of the benefits. As a whole it is a useful technology which is even used by the police department to track the culprits.

THE GREAT ESCAPE

The book was written by Paul Brickhill, The Great Escape took place in the German prisoner of war camp, Stalag Luft III. The camp was home to several hundred British and American pilots and officers who had fallen hostage to German troops during World War II.

Security at the camp was very tight. Guards walked every inch of the area, and there were two watchtowers at either end. Stalag Luft III boasted a perfect history of having no successful escapes, and the Germans were not prepared to change that. The prisoners, on the other hand, were. Led by Bartlett, the prisoners met and organized a massive escape, in hopes to distract the Germans forces fighting on the front and bring temporary relief to their comrades. Every prisoner involved in the escape was assigned a specific job.

AFFILIATE MARKETING

Affiliate marketing allows Internet business owners to capitalize on word of mouth and partners to increase their sales and their profits. It is one of the most popular methods for advertising a business.

Affiliate marketing is quite simple. An Internet business owner partners with one of more affiliates. These partners then send website visitors (sales) to the website and are paid for doing so. This system is typically managed by a third party who ensures that contractual obligations are met, payment is made and that the process is seamless.

Affiliate marketing websites typically offer a vast array of products and services for an interested party to consider. For example, if you were interested in becoming an affiliate, you would visit one or more of the popular third party sites and select a product to represent. You can choose almost anything from diet pills to electronics or jewellery.

How Does Affiliate Marketing Work?

The concept of affiliate marketing is very simple ... but it is often so bogged down in jargon that the simplicity is lost.

Who is who in the Affiliate Marketing Chain?

If you are a website owner who promotes third party products, you are known as the 'affiliate' or 'partner'.
The person or company with something to sell is known as the 'merchant'.

Affiliate Marketing Description with Jargon!

An affiliate program is a business arrangement whereby a merchant agrees to pay another party, known as an affiliate or partner, a referral fee or commission. This commission is paid for all the sales that occur in the event of the end customer clicking the affiliate links which leads to the merchant's website and results in a purchase.

The Simplest Way to Get Started

The simplest way to get started is to sign up for one of the many affiliate networks. These companies manage the whole affiliate marketing process for you. As a publisher it is free for you to sign-up, although some of them have an approval process to ensure your website is of a high enough standard for their merchants.

The networks sign-up hundreds, or even, thousands of merchants and agree with them what products they want promoting and what commissions they are prepared to pay. Commissions vary depending on the products or services being sold. A travel company selling holidays may pay 0.5%, whereas someone selling a downloadable eBook may offer 50% commission. The affiliate network takes care of monitoring which of your visitors make purchases, collecting the commissions and ensuring you get paid.

The Affiliate Marketing Process

When you sign up for an affiliate program this is the process that you go through.

1) Affiliate Sign-Up
2) Selects Merchants
3) Ad Appears on Affiliates Pages
4) Visitor Clicks on the Ad
5) Cookie Placed on the Visitor's Web Browser
6) The Cookie Tracks Any Sales
7) Merchant Approves the Transaction
8) Commission Report
9) Commissions are Paid
